What the label is actually doing
"Research use only" is not a quality grade and it is not a regulatory category that makes a substance safer or freer. It is a seller declaring that the product is not intended for human consumption, which is how it is offered for sale without a prescription at all. The label is doing legal work for the seller, not quality work for you.
What is actually in the vial
Nobody has told you, and usually nobody has checked. Independent analyses of peptides bought from consumer-facing websites have repeatedly found products whose contents did not match the label: wrong quantity, degraded material, the wrong compound, or measurable impurities. These are not exotic findings; they are what you would expect from an unregulated supply chain with no requirement to test anything.
For an injectable, sterility is the part that should stop you. A non-sterile injectable is not a lower grade of the same product. It is a different risk entirely.
The part people do not expect
If something goes wrong, the fact that you bought a product labelled not for human use, and used it on a human, is evidence against you rather than for you. There is no prescriber who assessed you, no pharmacy record, no lot to trace, and no insurer or regulator whose job it is to help. The disclaimer that made the purchase easy is the same sentence that removes every protection afterwards.
The comparison, stated plainly
Physician-supervised compounded therapy gives you an evaluation before the first dose, a dose chosen from your own labs, a pharmacy that is licensed and inspected, a traceable lot, and monitoring afterwards. A research-use-only vial gives you the substance and nothing else. Both may contain a peptide. Only one of them is medicine.
